What Is The My Safe Florida Home Program?

The My Safe Florida Home Program was launched during the 2022 legislative session with two primary objectives:

  1. Protect your home from hurricanes.
  2. Save you money on your project and lower insurance premiums.

You may be eligible to receive $2 for every $1 you spend. Homeowners can receive up to $10,000 in free grant money for home-strengthening improvements such as upgrading roofs and installing impact windows and doors. Not only does this further protect your home from the next big storm, but it can lower your homes insurance premium.

What are the benefits of the My Safe Florida Home Program?

  1. Receive up to $10,000 in free grant money. The department of financial service approved a matching grant to eligible homeowners up to $10,000 for qualifying hurricane safety projects.
  2. Receive $2 for every $1 you spend. For every $1 you provide, the state will provide $2 toward the actual cost of an authorized mitigation project, including roofing and windows.
  3. Lower your home insurance premium. Potentially lower you home insurance premiums by up to 50% by participating in the program, bringing significant savings for you.
